The typical features of an advert
usually contain:
·
The name of the artists in a prominent
position of the advert.
·
The cover and the name of the album.
·
The picture of the artists.
·
The place people could buy it, such as
the websites and shop.
The
magazine advert I looked at is The Coral - Butterfly House. The image
used in this advert is a black and red photo of the band members in a
place where have some trees with some small leafs on.
For the text on the advert, a Gothic
fonts is
used which created a mysterious atmosphere to the poster that suit the
image of
the band. The fonts looks butterfly effect which could represent the
name of the album 'BUTTERFLY HOUSE'. The color of the text is white that
is in sharp contrast to the
poster that could attract audiences’ eyes. The name of the band is
showing in
the biggest size on the upper left corner of the poster that audience
could easily
know the singer, the name of the album, relate date and the type of
product
that audience could buy (CD/2CD/VINYL/DY) are in middle of the left hand
side
of the poster in a smaller size which keep the audience interest. The
live time
of the band, the website of the band and the HMV logo also showed in the
poster
in the smallest size at the bottom that gave the news of the band fans
that
where they could go to listen the music and the way they could buy the
album. The
text is sanding out the style of the band that they are cool and also
professional.

Over all, from this poster I learned that the
color of the text of the poster could be in a strong contrast so that we could
attract audience. And also we need to chose the fonts and the size of the text
that we going to put on. But I think this poster is not a great one, the reason
is that this poster contain too many text which made this poster lose the heart
of what the band trying to tell the audience, such as the live time of the
band, if audience really interested in, they could go on line to search the information.
This poster is not creative, the image didn’t show many effect, we could do
better on it. More creative, more attractive!
